Competition or......????? Listen to this story: It was Thrusday 10th July when I a friend informed me that he is going to Shah Alam on Saturday 12th July. I asked him why?? He said Prof Hapizah wanted to have a meeting. I woundered How???
On Monday 14/July he met me asking why did not you attend the Post Graduate Work shop Saturday???
I woundered how do you say that? No body reminded me and you have said that prof Hapizah will have a meeting and you did not inform me that there is a work shop???
He said it was published or sent by e mail he scrolled his e mail we did not find any reminders
So Hope to have a hard copy and e mail for every event to remind the lecturers and not depending on any person to inform his colleagues.
We seem to be emphasizing too much on postgraduate researches while we don't have our own hospital for our undergraduates. The two hospitals are actually catering more to the postgraduates. The lecturers' promotion depends very much on the number of papers he or she produced. That may be ok for the pre-clinical lecturers but for the clinicians, that is a disadvantage. We need at least a minimum of two years for a follow-up period of any surgical procedure to show result, if there are enough number of cases. A lecturer who is good at imparting knowledge rather than those spending his or her time on writing thesis is more essential for the development of a good doctor at this early stage. I don't know where we are heading now!
